Request a Sample Developmental Edit

Free Sample of My Editing Process

I believe that finding the right editor is crucial to revising your writing, and I am excited to offer my services to support you on your editing journey. Once you've finished multiple rounds of revisions on your draft, a sample edit is the next step to booking editing services for your manuscript.

Substantive editing focuses on the big-picture story of your manuscript. Unlike line-editing or copy-editing (which works at the sentence-level), developmental editing focuses on the structure of your story by consider the entire manuscript. This editorial assessment is key to ensuring your manuscript's success as it considers your character's arc of change and the structure of your novel. A full edit is an intensive process as the editor works to help you improve the overall structure and maintain reader interest throughout the story.

Hiring an editor is a bit like online dating. It's important that you and your editor are a match. Given the cost of a developmental edit, I cannot stress enough the importance of this choice. I provide sample edits as a free service to help you choose the right editor for you.
