Books have always held a special place in my heart. Some of my earliest memories revolve around stories of daring heroes, morally gray love interests, and compelling villains. Now, I have the privilege of helping authors craft novels that hook readers and bring their creative visions to life.
A few years ago, I decided to return to the creative world after a career in the military. I pursued an MFA in Creative Writing, convinced I would unlock the secrets of storytelling. But to my surprise, the program didn’t reveal the magic formula behind the stories I couldn’t put down. Determined to uncover those secrets, I began training with the Editorial Freelance Association, diving into every craft book I could find.
And then, it clicked. Story structure transformed from a hazy fog into clear, defined shapes—patterns that I could recognize, refine, and teach. Now, as a developmental editor, I use that knowledge to help authors like you craft stories that captivate readers from the very first page.
